I’m introducing glass jars for my honey rather than using plastic containers.
While glass is more expensive than plastic, they can be reused after washing and sterilizing. Which is better for the environment. I’ll be keeping my price for honey at $17/kg and asking people to bring the jars back so I can reuse them.
You can buy my raw Moonee Valley honey from my veranda at 45 Chaucer Street, Moonee Ponds during the day. While I use up the plastic containers the honey will be in 1kg ($17) and 600g ($10) containers. When the glass jars come on line they will be in 1kg ($17) and 530g ($9) containers. There is an honesty box to put the money.
Honey production across large areas of Australia has been poor this year. WA, SA and parts of Victoria have been in drought and part of Queensland and NSW have had floods. On top of that Varroa mite is spreading across NSW and into Victoria and Queensland.
Expect less Australian honey this year!
