Suburban Bees provides services across Moonee Valley and its surrounding suburbs in Melbourne, Australia.
Set up by Tony Wilsmore, Suburban Bees aims to:
- Broaden the community’s understanding of the importance of bees to the environment
- Increase the number of people actively involved in beekeeping
- Support ‘backyard’ beekeepers in managing their hives so that their bees are happy and healthy, and produce good honey crops.
Tony has developed his beekeeping business to be environmentally sustainable. Based in Moonee Ponds, he uses his cargo bike and trailer to provide his services.
Tony is actively involved in the beekeeper community, as:
- A member of the management committee of the Melbourne Section of the Victorian Apiarist Association
- A member of the beekeeping training team operating from the Collingwood Children’s Farm
- A Wheen Bee Foundation Ambassador
- A member of the Victorian State Quarantine Response Team
